What is the solution? The soution
is, first, total dedication to the land
and the cause and a willingness to
defend your country, assume com-
plete power and be willing to lose
lives in the process.
Arabs living in the territories must
be given jurisdiction over their own
municipalities but without voting
rights within Israeli elections. There
can be no incidents of national sover-
eignty that can only lead to a
"Disaster Foretold."
Israeli Arabs loyal to the state must
live as full citizens. Those advocating
the overthrow of Israel, as a sovereign
Jewish nation, must be expelled and
treated as traitors, etc., etc.
Is all this possible?
Not likely without the total dedica-
tion that seems to have completely
disappeared with the generation of
David Ben Gurion, Menachim
Begin, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Shamir
and thousands of other Israeli patri-
ots now long gone. Li

The RWDSU not only organized
those workers, we were able to help
them win a $3.5-million legal settle-
ment. But for every immigrant worker
who does win the respect that comes
with having a union, there are many
more who are still suffering without it.
As we celebrate Labor Day on Sept.
3, the Jewish community can be
proud. Of course, we'll always be
proud of the role unions played in
helping an earlier generation of Jews
into the American middle-class. But,
this year, we can also take special
pride in the role young Jewish
activists are playing to bring the bene-
fits of unionization to today's immi-
grant workers. Our grandparents
would be proud! r---
