Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was founder, in 1943, and owner of Allied Film Exchange with offices in Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Mr. Zide was the founder of the Detroit Variety Club, its past president and chief barker and was honored many times by the organiza- tion with various awards locally and nationally. He received the Spirit of Detroit Award and, in 1973, the Award of Appreciation by the National Association of Theater Owners. Mr. Zide is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Arline Zide, Martin and Nancy Zide; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Joseph Brown; grandchildren, Larry and Sherly Zide, Debby and Martin Cohen, Richard and Erica Zide, Warren and Lisa Zide, Dr. Elizabeth Zide, Rachel Brown, David Brown and Jeffrey Brown; great-grandchildren, David, Brian, Justin, Jason, Danielle, Amy, Sydney; sister, Adele Yaker of California.
