Mr. Bernhardt was a diamond and fine jewelry dealer on the Boardwalk when World War II broke out. He was draft- ed and served in the infantry and was captured in the invasion of Sicily on July 10, 1943. He came home vvhen the war ended in 1945. He was dis- abled due to slave labor and marching in Germany during freezing weather. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Goorland Bernhardt; sons and daughter-in-law, Ric and Gail Bernhardt of Bloomfield Hills, Greg Bernhardt of New York, N.Y.; granddaughter, Justine Sarah Bernhardt.
