Travel Marc Konvisser's idea of fun this summer was a coast-to-coast bike ride. BILL CARROLL Special to the Jewish News A n avid bicycle rider, Marc Konvisser of Orchard Lake Village "wanted to see the country" while riding a bike — and he wasn't going to let back trouble or diabetes stop him. So, on June 15, he took his special bike and embarked on a 3,600-mile trip across America, starting in Astoria, Ore., and ending Aug. 5 in Portsmouth, N.H. The journey included 100- degree temperatures, traveling through the tough Rocky Mountains, high winds in South Dakota, the death of one rider, an injury to another and a spill in Wisconsin for Konvisser.
