JPI Begins
53rd Year

The Jewish Parents Institute is accept-
ing registration for the 2001-2002
school year. Founded in 1948, JPI has
offered a cultural/historical approach
to Judaism for the past 52 years.
Housed at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield, JPI offers
an educational opportunity for chil-
dren in nursery through seventh
grade. JPI also has a bar/bat mitzvah
program that culminates in a rite-of-
passage ceremony shared by the stu-
dents, families and guests.
An informational meeting will be
held 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, to
help new members become better
acquainted with the program. For

Jewish Detroit
Tour Slated

A three-hour guided bus tour of old
Jewish Detroit is planned by the Up
and Out for Seniors Committee of
National Council of Jewish Women
Greater Detroit Section on Tuesday,
Aug. 21.
Interested seniors may make reser-
vations by sending $7 to NCJW,
GDS, 26400 Lahser Road, Suite 100,
Southfield, MI 48034.
A bus will pick up at American
House (Parkcrest) and from the
Federation Apartments in Oak Park,
departing Federation Apartments at
12:30 p.m. and returning at 4:30
p.m.
