Fly Adelson fell in love with
an American filmmaker
before she fell in love with
American filmmaking, but
the spin-off from her first love to her
second seemed quite natural for the
former Israeli.
After marrying Andrew Adelson, a
producer she met while he was distrib-
uting a movie in her native country,
the new bride set up stakes in
California and developed her own pro-
duction career that has resulted in
scores of films spanning many subjects.
Her latest, The Triangle, premieres 8
p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, on cable's
WTBS Superstation and stars Luke
Perry (Beverly Hills 90210), Dan
Cortese (Veronica's Closet), Olivia
d'Abo (The Wonder Years) and Dorian
Harewood (12 Angry Men).
It tells the story of vacationing
friends whose fishing boat encounters
a 1930s luxury liner lost in the
Bermuda Triangle, the area off the
coast of Florida where ships and air-
planes have disappeared without a
trace.
"This was really a challenging movie
to make because we used so many dif-
ferent special effects, such as combin-
ing animation and a model of the boat
into the scenes,” says Adelson, 44,
whose cast and crew used Barbados as
their backdrop.
"The idea of the Bermuda Triangle
attracted me to the script. I liked
[exploring this] mysterious place and
what could or could not happen in the
world of the unknown.
"The movie also attempts to tell that
there is a good and an evil side to each
of us. Some people are susceptible and
go to their evil side, while some can
stay with their good side. We have evil
on the boat, and one person is drawn
to the evil."
Film production was not on
Adelson's mind when she was a stu-
