DEBBIE HITSKY Special to the Jewish _News T he answer is the National Council of Jewish Women and the Detroit section of the NCJW Now in its 109th year, the Greater Detroit Section has launched its own Web site, www.ncjwgreaterdetroit.org , to inform the public of its vast array of services, and, incidentally, to make it easily available for volunteers of time and/or money. Born in 1891 at Temple Beth El, the Jewish Women's Club became the Detroit section of the NCJW in 1925. Its mission is the "advocacy, community service, and empower- ment of women, children, and fami- lies." Wait until you read about everything they are and do. Click on the "Work We Do in Our Community" page and you'll be impressed with the wide variety of projects the NCJW is involved with. From reading and tutoring in schools to domestic violence, and from seniors and students programs to interest-free educational assis- tance loans for undergraduate and graduate Jewish students, the NCJW Detroit Section covers all the bases. Most of us are familiar with their thrift shops and kosher Meals on Wheels, but did vou know Content that they weekly Design tape the Jewish News visually impaired Ease of Use for readers' Every week, their buses transport residents of Federation Apartments to supermar- kets. And there's so much more. The Web site also has pages where we learn of their national programs, Israel work, State Public Affairs (here, put yourself on their mailing list), "How to Donate, " member- ship information, and volunteer opportunities where you can use your keyboard to put your hand in the air. The "Calendar of Events" is cur- rent. www.ncjwgreaterdetroit.org is a good place to visit and learn and maybe to be inspired. Maybe even inspired to leave the PC and get involved with a very worthwhile organization. ❑ og on to: reaterdetroit org 30 dealers offering a variety of quality antiques & collectibles, estate and vintage jewelry, unique gifts and bridal registry • • 248.545.4663 • • • • °h a rk &441 424V1112 410 4 Art Glass & Pottery Bakelite China & Crystal Depression Glass Fiestaware Flow Blue • • • Complete Guide To Complete Group •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Furniture Handbags & Compacts Ironstone Linens Costume, Fine, Vintage & Sterling Jewelry Sterling Silver Lighting Majolica Toys Vintage Clothing Vintage Telephones 1 15 South Main Street Royal Oak, Ml 48067 • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •••••••• ••• • ••• ••0 •• •• ••• ••• ••00 ••• •• • .111 • • • • • www.antiquesonmain.com .e ;s71 ,T % IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR FITNESS Let us help you be the best you can be with 1 on 1 training at our club.
