State Rep. Marc Shulman of West Bloomfield helped the Jewish community
acquire a bus from SMART to assist with transportation of the elderly and the
disabled. Shulman arranged for five agencies, including Jewish Family Service,
to purchase the bus for a dollar. Ellen Labes, chairperson of Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit's Commission on Jewish Eldercare Services (COJES),
thanked Shulman on behalf of all the agencies at a ribbon cutting ceremony at
the Oak Park Jewish Community Center. Shown are Dan Durks of SM.ART;
Stewart Weiner of Jewish Family Service; Rep. Shulman; Ellen Labes of COJES;
Linda Blumberg, COJES director; Norm Keane of Jewish Family Service; and
Howard Neistein, Federation's chief planning officer.
