Event Chairs
Rochelle Lieberman and Eli Scherr
have been appointed Bar-Ilan
University's event co-chairs.
This year's annual event will feature
entertainer Carl Reiner on
Wednesday, Sept.
5, at the Seligman
Family Performing
Arts Center on the
campus of Detroit
Country Day
School in Beverly
Hills.
Lieberman was
instrumental in
organizing Bar-
Eli Scherr
Ilan's "university
on wheels" mis-
sions and has
served on its board
for a decade.
Scherr, second
term officer with
Bar-Ilan, has estab-
lished two funds,
the Eli A. Scherr
Library
Endowment Fund
Rochelle
and the Eli A.
Lieberman
Scherr Scientific
Research Fund. He is also a member
of the University's Presidential'
Founders Society. On the local level,
he is the organization's treasurer, has
been on the board since 1995 and on
the executive committee since 1997.
He has been instrumental in the uni-
versity's Detroit Planned Giving cam-
paign.
Lieberman and Scherr will be
assisted by Jeff Sakwa, Karen Alpiner
and Debbie Muskovitz.

Jewish College
Sets Open House
The Michigan Jewish Institute, the
only fully accredited Jewish college in
metropolitan Detroit, will hold an
open house 7 p.m. Monday, July 23,
at the school, 25401 Coolidge, Oak
Park.
Prospective students will learn
about the school, which specializes in
computer and information technolo-
gy, and receive information about
state and federal scholarships.
Applications for the scholarships are
due in early August. For information,
