you know has Remy-
Martin's King Louis
XIII cognac ... at
$100 a shot?
It's been 27
months since Mike
and Ray took over
McVee's, back on
April 12 of 1999 ...
The test is over and the "we shall see"
period has ended.
Result has made McVee's owners,
Michael and Ray Abrams, the winners ...
And if there must also be losers, then let
them be those who have never been to
McVee's.
They've not only made it, but
McVee's food has gotten to be an even
more major reason for customers to
continually return.
AMONG THE MOST popular little
restaurants in the Northwest area ...
Giorgio's Counterside Gourmet diner ...
on Lincoln and Greenfield in Oak Park
... will finally open another Giorgio's.
It is scheduled for October of this year
... as Giorgio's Gourmet Diner ... in
Sugar Tree on Orchard Lake Road,
north of 15 Mile, West Bloomfield.
Owner brothers, George and Bill
Golematis, will open their new diner
near the Outback Steak House as a
copy of their well-liked Oak Park loca-
tion ... which will remain.
The West Bloomfield diner will seat
70 people at a counter, 10 booths and a
couple of tables ... it will be a seven-day-
a-week operation ... Sundays included ...
with the same menu and prices as Oak
Park ... which is not open Sundays and
only seats about 37 or so.
Giorgio's Gourmet Diner will be one
of at least three new restaurants slated to
open this year on Orchard Lake Road ...
one in West Bloomfield and two in
Farmington Hills.
RANDY SMITH WAS chairman of
the recent 'A Great Day at the
Ballpark" when the Detroit Tigers
played the Chicago Cubs at Comerica
Park ... with 1,000 youngsters and their
families in attendance ... thanks to the
local chapter of Variety — The
Children's Charity.
But it wasn't Randy Smith, the
Tiger's general manager ... Randall
Smith of Variety is a local attorney.
CONGRATS ... To Mert Robbins ...
on his birthday, July 19.
BELATED CONGRATS ... to
Harvey Feinberg ... on his 70th birth-
day ... celebrated with Harvey and wife,
Gloria, taking 25 members from both
their sides, plus two baby sitters for
their grandchildren ... to Las Vegas ...
and fun that included a birthday party
at the MGM Grand.
