any boys grow up dreaming of
becoming firefighters, but few
Jewish men turn this dream
into a reality.
For Jerry Eizen, it's a way of putting the
Jewish concept of pikuach nefesh, to save a
life, into practice on a daily basis.
In addition, Eizen was named "Firefighter
of the Year" in late April by the Livonia
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Eizen, an Orthodox Jew who lives in Oak
Park with his wife, Becky, and their two
young sons, Ari and Sander, won the award
for an incident last December.
He and partner Michael Rusnak of

Jerry Eizen was named Firefighter of the Year
by the Livonia Fire Department.
