LEGAL NOTICE BY ORDER OF THE COURT

SUMMARY NOTICE OF PENDENCY OF CLASS ACTION,

PROPOSEQSVITI ;WENT AND SETTLEMENT HEARING

TO VICTIMS OF ANTI-SEMITIC PERSECUTION IN FRANCE
AND THEIR HEIRS WHO MAY HAVE CLAIMS AGAINST
BARCLAYS BANK OR J.P. MORGAN & CO. RELATING TO
BANKING ACTIVITIES IN FRANCE DURING AND AFTER WWII

the entire community."
Lawrence Wolfe stepped down after
three years of service at the helm o: the
JCC. Wolfe recalled the significant
events of his term: tile 1998 JCC
Maccabi Games held at the D. Dan and
Betty Kahn Building; the naming of the
Kahn Building in
honor of his in-laws,
whose gift sparked
the JCC's capital and
endowment cam-
paign; that fund-
raising campaign,
which has raised $33
million for endow-
ments and capital
improvements to
JCC facilities; and a
renewed partnership with the Jewish
Federation and United Jewish
Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Among the agency programs he singled
out were:
• Seminars for Adult Jewish
Enrichment (SAJE);
• JCC Lenore Marwil Jewish Film
Festival;
• The Jewish Book Fair, the country's
oldest and largest, which this year cele-
brates its 50th anniversary;
• West Bloomfield Community Fame
Games, a partnership between the JCC
and community organizations.
He also recognized partnerships with
community groups to create informal
Jewish education opportunities, lauding
the JCC's Director of Jewish Education
Rabbi Hal Greenwald for his efforts.
Wolfe described improvements at
both JCC buildings, in West Bloomfield
and Oak Park. At the Kahn Building in
West Bloomfield, he cited the Marion
and David Handleman Hall and
Auditorium and the InLine Hockey
Center. He said the IHC has drawn
families with no knowledge or affiliation
with the JCC. Coming to Kahn is the
Milk and Honey of West Bloomfield
kosher dairy restaurant, the Center for
Exploration and Din Lovery, the ORT
Resource Center and revitalized sports
and fitness areas.
"The JCC is much more than a
health club," Wolfe said. "It's a social
service agency. We need the support and
commitment of the community on an
ongoing basis. We are here to help peo-
ple. We need your resolve to make this
the true center of the community."
Bringing greetings from the Jewish
Federation, President Penny
Blumenstein said "since its founding,
the JCC has really been the center for all
the Jews of Detroit. The JCC is the cen-
ter of involvement and identification. I
look forward to a wonderful future for
the JCC.”
