all about ... Sposita:, Italian Restaurant
on 14 Mile, now open for lunch again.
MAIL DEPT ... from Flo
Rappaport in Century City Calif ...
"I am seated here recalling our weeks
last winter in Cabo San Lucas,
Mexico, at the Bonita Rose Spa and
Resort.
"There were several couples from
Michigan who remarked _howwonder-
ful it was to .be together ... Our
favorite restaurants were breakfast on
the beach at the Office; Greenberg's
Deli, owned by former Detroiter
David Greenberg; Edith's evening out-
door Patio Restaurant with fresh fish
and prime meats cooked over an open
grill; and the wonderful Raphael's with
many rooms decorated individually
and a minipool in the bar, along with
super fine food, eating and service
experiences.
"The 50th wedding anniversary of
Paul and myself at i<.aphael's was a
wonderful evening to remember. I
must also mention the Macombo. It
too was a marvelous seafood restau-
rant, roomy and with quick service.
"Former Michiganders [there], like
Paul and I, were Larry and Tobey
Traeger, Fred and Irene Garon, Davi,'
and Pauline Goodman, Joel and Sara
Rogsner, plus others."
OLDIE BUT GOODIE ... from
Bud Sherbow The captain of a
Syrian airplane sends out a MAYDAY
message. "This is Syrian Airlines 174
announcing we have lost one engine
and want to land at any airport in the
Middle East OTHER than Israel!"
No answer.
A while later he announces, "This is
Syrian Airlines 174 again. We have
now lost two engines and need to land
at any airport in the Middle Eas
OTHER than Israel!"
Still no answer.
Finally the captain calls out, "Help!
This is Syrian Airlines 174. We have
only one engine left and it is rapidly
failing. Unless we can land we are
going to crash. We need permission to
land at ANY airport in the Middle
East INCLUDING Israel!"
Shortly thereafter, a voice is heard in
the Syrian cockpit ... "Shalom Syrian
Air 174. This is Tel Aviv approach
control. We would like to help."
"Allah be praised," says the Syrian
pilot. "What should we do?"
"Repeat after me, Yisgadal
viyiskadash ..."
KORN KORNER ... from Lou
Sedlow ... "My friend's grandmother
started walking five miles a day when
she was 60. She is now 97 and they
don't know where the hell she is."
