ZOA Rallies
Against Terrorism

Four Detroiters were among the
200 Zionist Organization of
America members who lobbied
Congress last week to fight terror-
ist killings of American citizens in
Israel.
The four are Jerome S.
Kaufman, national secretary of the
ZOA; Maya Veprinsky, manager of
the ZOA/Michigan Region office;
and members Sally and Max
Nosenchuk.
The 200 sought to garner sup-
port for the U.S. Sen. Gordon
Smith/U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews bill
that seeks to establish a new unit
within the Department of Justice
to develop and implement pro-
grams specifically aimed at captur-
ing Palestinian terrorists who have
killed American citizens in Israel.
Terrorists who have killed
American citizens anywhere are
listed on a U.S. State Department
Web site; rewards are offered for
information that leads to their
capture. Terrorists who have killed
Americans in Israel and the territo-
ries are not listed, said Kaufman.
The group heard Israel support-
er and national columnist Cal
Thomas, Ambassador Richard
Haass of the U.S. State
Department and Rafi Barak,
deputy ambassador at the Israeli
Embassy.
