The Jewish-American Hall of Fame,
site intended to highlight and sell
idaic medallic portraiture, has some-
ling to offer casual visitors, but not a

The home page offers a number of
ioices — each appropriately marked

Start with the "Virtual Tour
'rough 500 Years of Jewish-American
[istory." Featured here: several dozen
Ames, from Christopher Columbus
Barbra Streisand. Click on a name

Another section — "Are yc .1 an
instein?" — features quizzes about
mous American Jews. A quiz on the
riter Isaac Bashevis Singer, for
stance, offers eight multiple-choice
iestions. Don't worry, your grades
on't be sent to your mom, and truth
tell, it's pretty easy to guess your
ay to a good score. But you'll proba-
y learn something in the process.

A "special exhibits" section current-
ly features Albert Einstein. But it
offers little more than a kind of ency-
clopedia entry about the great thinker
and information about nations that
have honored him with — you
guessed it — medals.
Yeah, you can buy medals here, but
there's no high-pressure salesmanship;
feel free to browse without buying.
It's an interesting mishmash of
information, but marred by a lack of
depth. A link to Mordecai Noah, for
example — one of the most fascinat-
ing characters in American Jewish his-
tory — provides only a passing refer-
ence to the man who tried to create a
Jewish utopia in Buffalo, N.Y., of all
places.
