Where To Learn On Shavuot

•Conservative:

Eilu v' Eilu, the adult Jewish learning
project of the Conservative movement has
compiled the following list of Shavuot pro-
gramming among Conservative congrega-
tions:
Adat Shalom Synagogue: Services will
be held 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27, fol-
lowed by a 9:30 p.m. light supper and
study sessions at 10:30 p.m. led by Adat
Shalom clergy and Dr. Mark Smiley, head-
master of Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit. No charge. For reser-
vations, call Sheila Lederman, (248) 851-
5100.
Congregation Beth Ahm: Study sessions
will be held 7:30 to 11 p.m. Sunday, May
27, with leaders including Beth Ahm clergy,
Rabbi Charles Popky and Cantor David
Montefiore. For information, call the syna-

Congregation Beth Shalom: 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 27 Mincha (daily afternoon
service) healing service led by synagogue
clergy Rabbi David Nelson and Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum, followed by 8 p.m.
panel discussion on the spiritual dimen-
sions of care-giving, tided, "Giving from
Your Heart: Different Givers, Different
Gifts." The panel includes Phyllis Schwartz
of Jewish Family Service, Father Chris
Welsh of Beaumont Hospital's Chaplaincy
Program and Sheyna Wexelberg-Clouser of
Jewish Home and Aging Services. A Maariv
(evening prayer service) will follow. Cost:
pre-paid charge $7.50/family for dessert
reception following Maariv. Baby-sitting is

Congregation B'nai Moshe: Torah
study sessions for Shavuot will take place
following Shacharit (daily morning prayer

Congregation Shaarey Zedek: Study
sessions will take place throughout the
night, beginning at 8 p.m., Sunday, May
27, culminating in a 5 a.m. Monday, May

Joseph Krakoff of Shaarey Zedek; Rabbi
Aaron Bergman, director of Jewish Studies
at Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit;

Eilu v' Eilu will sponsor a Shavuot
prayer and text study for women, led by
Rabbi Amy Ruth Bolton, as part of Eilu v'
Eilu's monthly series, Kedushat HaHodesh
(Sanctifying the Month.) The program will
be held to welcome the new month of Sivan
and the holiday of Shavuot, 10 to 11:30
a.m. Sunday, May 27, in the Applebaum
Parenting Center at B'nai Israel.
Eilu v' Eilu is sponsored by area
Conservative congregations; Hillel Day
School; Jewish Theological Seminary of
America, Great Lakes Region; United
Synagogue of Conservative Judaism Great
Lakes and Rivers Region and Women's
League for Conservative Judaism, Michigan
branch.
Eilu v' Eilu welcomes all adult learners,
regardless of affiliation, background, or
Jewish study experience.

Congregation Shir Tikvah: hosts an all-
night spiritual celebration, 7 p.m., Sunday,
May 27, beginning with Shavuot and
Yizkor (memorial service), followed by
singing, drumming, teaching and discus-
sion, facilitated by Rabbi Arnie Sleutelberg
and Eli Cohen, the congregation's High
Holiday cantor. Donation requested.
Participants are asked to bring a dairy or
fruit dish, which are traditional at Shavuot.
