Image Class Empowers Girls Yeshivat'Akiva, in cooperation with the Jewish Community Center, has been holding an after school class for girls in third and fourth grades. The Girls Empowered class, which runs for eight weeks, has enabled its 18 participants to do yoga, cardiobox, self- defense and creative movement. These activities are designed to encourage self- esteem, personal empowerment and a positive body image. The Girls Empowered class is taught by Kimber Yankee, who designed the program. Andi Reisman from the JCC worked together with Yankee and Laurie Goldmeier and Susan Gardin, parents at Akiva. For information on the program, call Susan Gardin, (248) 355-9705. -
