The first Avery Monet Foundation
Carnival will benefit the Samantha Erin
Rosen Nursery School at Congregation
Beth Ahm and the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation. The car-
nival will take place
noon to-4 p.m.
Sunday, June 3, at the
synagogue.
The foundation
was created by Cherie
and Daniel
Engelman in honor
of their 2-year-old
Avery Monet
daughter Avery, a stu-

dent at the school
who has cystic fibro-
sis, a genetic disease causing the body to
form abnormally thick mucus, which
can lead to chronic and fatal lung infec-
tions and impair digestion. There is no
cure for the disease.
Tickets to the carnival include access
to a petting farm, pony rides, train rides,
clowns, a fire truck and patrol car, giant
slide, moon walk and art projects.
A puppet show will take place at 1
p.m., with a magic show at 2 p.m.
Ticket cost is $10 in advance/$15 at
the door; family tickets, $40 in
advance/$60 at the door; children 2 and
younger admitted free.

Cabaret Event

Kate Willinger will star in a musical
cabaret 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30,
at the Greater
Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah's life mem-
ber event at the
Bloomfield Township
Library, Telegraph
and Lone Pine.
Willinger has

appeared off-
Broadway and is a
winner of the Detroit Free Press
Award for Theatre Excellence. Cost
for the event is $10.
Greater Detroit Chapter member-
ship vice president is Judi Schram
