At The Auction began as a small fund-
raising event planned in 1999 by Barry
and Jody Klask Rogow and Mark and
Lisa Roth Rosenberg, all of West
Bloomfield, in memory of the women's
fathers who died of ALS, a fatal neu-
rodegenerative disease, also known as
Lou Gehrig's disease. Doctors say more
than 300,000 people living today will
die from ALS.
In just three years, the event moved
from a small gathering of friends and
family to an auction of the unique and
extravagant, attracting nearly 1,000
guests. Last year, it raised over $90,000.
"There are luxury vacations to Aruba,
Aspen, Captiva Island and Mexico," says
Jody Rogow, who, with her husband and
