Award Honors
Day School

For the second year in a row, the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit will
present Yeshiva Beth Yehudah with the
Golden Phone Award, honoring the day
school for having the highest percentage
of its board members make telephone
calls during Federation's Campaign
Countdown March 25-29.
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah, with locations
in Southfield and Oak Park, secured
more new gifts to benefit Federation s
2001 Annual Campaign than any other
agency or synagogue participating in the
phonathons.
Campaign Countdown is Federation's
series of community phonathons to help
close the Annual Campaign and reach
out to new donors. Thousands living in
Detroit, Israel and 58 countries around
the world receive life-saving and life-
enhancing services because of
Federation's annual appeal.
This year, 400 Campaign Countdown
volunteers made solicitation calls to the
community, resulting in gifts totaling
more than 5400,000 to Federation's
Annual Campaign.
"Without the support of our local
agencies, day schools and synagogues,
Campaign Countdown would not have
been as successful," said Robert Slatkin
of Bloomfield Hills, who co-chaired the
2001 Campaign Countdown with
Susan Citrin of Birmingham. "We can-
not thank enough each and every
agency and synagogue that made the
effort to be a part of Campaign
Countdown — and we hope to see
them again next year."
