Raines Directs Jewish Fund Jodee Fishman Raines of Huntington Woods has been appointed director of the Jewish Fund. Raines, formerly a program officer for the Skillman Foundation in Detroit, spent four years as an attorney at the law firm of Bodman, Longlev and Dahling LLP, where she special- ized in tax- exempt organiza- tions and private foundations. Jodee Raines The Jewish Fund was established in 1997 from the proceeds of the sale of Sinai Hospital to the Detroit Medical Center. It makes grants that meet the health care needs of vulnerable popu- lations within the Jewish and general communities and the social welfare needs of the Jewish community. Consul General Talks On Israel Tzipora Rimon, consul general of Israel to the Midwest, will present the annual Lucas Lecture 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Oak Park Jewish Community Center. Her topic will be "The State of Israel in the Year 2001: Challenges and Prospects." The late Hilda and Dr. Leon Lucas, both of whom were instrumental in founding the Institute of Retired Professionals, estab- lished an endowment for the annual lecture on Israel at the Oak Park site five years ago. The event is co- sponsored by IRP and Tzipo ra the JCC. A reception Rimon will follow the lecture. Rimon was born, raised and edu- cated in Israel. She is a graduate of the department of economic at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and has a broad range of expertise in Israel's economic relations with the United States, Europe and within the Middle East. While serving in the Israel Defense Forces she reached the rank of captain and specialized in instruc- tional work with the Women's Corps.
