Hermelin Legacy
Marks ORT Dinner
Doreen Hermelin is the honorary chair
of the ORT Visionaries dinner honor-
ing Andrea and Lawrence Wolfe in cel-
ebration of the new Michigan ORT
Resource Center at the Jewish
Community
Center in
West
Bloomfield.
Because
both he and
his wife,
Doreen,
agreed to be
honorary
Doreen and David
co-chairs
Hermelin
before his
death last
November,
the late David Hermelin, an avid
ORT supporter, also is listed in event
publicity.
Hermelin was president of the
World ORT Union until President
Clinton appointed him ambassador to
Norway in 1997. In 1997, the
Hermelin ORT College of Technology
in Netanya, Israel, was named in his
honor. He was a past president of the
American ORT/Detroit chapter; for
many years, he and Doreen hosted the
chapter's major fund-raiser at their
Bingham Farms home.
Doreen continues to be active in
Women's American ORT.
The May 9 dinner is at Adat Shalom
Synagogue at 5:45. Rabbi Joseph
Telushkin is guest speaker. Dinner pro-
ceeds will benefit the Michigan ORT
Resource Center and ORT Operations
