AVE Y01, EARD . Rachel Kamerman, Sabra BBG (1977- 80), is now a Hollywood production designer. Her most recent work was on "But I'm A Cheerleader," which played last summer at Royal Oak's Main Art Theatre. Rachel served as BBG Regional Treasurer in her junior year. Shari Katz, Achayot/Chaverot/Ahavah BBG (1993-98), served this past fall as Chairperson of "Voice Your Vote," a student government group on the University of Michigan campus that registered over 6,000 students during a voter registration and education campaign. An article by Shari on student service and community activism appeared in the Op-Ed page of the Detroit Free Press on December 26. In addition, Shari has recently been elected to serve as Chairperson for 2001 of the policy board of the University of Michigan Hillel. Shari is a former Michigan BBG N'siah and a former BBG International N'siah. Rabbi Hal Greenwald, the Jewish Community Center's new Director of Jewish Education, comes to Detroit from Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as Aleph Godol of his chapter, Sidney Marcus AZA, in Southern Region. Josh Hearshen, Marx AZA (1993-97) will graduate this spring from Michigan State University and has been accepted at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles to begin studies toward a rabbinical career. David Goldenberg, Marx AZA (1992- 96), has taken a position in Washington, D.C. as a legislative aide to U.S. Representative Alcee L. Hastings (23rd District, Florida). Rep. Hastings sits on the International Relations and Intelligence Committees of the House. David is a past Michigan Region AZA Aleph Godol. Stacy Glickman, Achayot/Savage BBG (1988-92), graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration and now serves as the Director of Student Activities at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. Danielle Litt, Savage BBG (1986-89), has been promoted to Director of the B'nai B'rith Beber camp in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. Danielle makes her home in Chicago, where Beber Camp offices are located. Scott Taub, Kennedy/Posen AZA (1982- 86), is serving a two-year fellowship as an accountant for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He is on leave from Arthur Anderson in Chicago, where he has worked since graduating college. Scott and his wife, Lynn, currently make their home in Alexandria, Virginia. 6 AZA Regional Convention stormed the BBYO calendar from December 24-28, 2000, and 368 BBYOers responded with intensity, enthusiasm, and good will. The theme this year was "Simply Irresistible," which was reflected in the special t-shirts worn at the opening ceremony by the coordinators. Amy Rothberger of Ahavah BBG became the 2001 recipient of the Evan Shapiro Leadership Award, named in memory of the former, much-loved Regional Aleph Godol. She will attend Kal!ah and ILTC this summer at the B'nai B'rith Perlman Camp in Starlight, PA.
