In addition to Sachse, the Akiva
dinner, held at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek in Southfield, hon-
ored Jonathan Brateman, Southfield
city councilman, and Dr. Kenneth
Kohn, Akiva parent and basketball
coach. The event, chaired by Eli and
Julie Halpern of Southfield, attract-
ed about 500 people.
Brateman, 44, received the
school's Community Chesed
Award. Elected to the Southfield
council 18 months ago, Brateman
has been on the Akiva board for
about six years.
