YAD To Meet
Righteous Gentile

Singles and couples age 21-35 can join
the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit Young Adult Division on May
6 for a brunch and discussion with
Anneke Burke-Kooistra.
During World war II, her family in
Holland his eight Jews from 1942
until 1945.
The event will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Sunday, May 6, at Congregation B'nai
Moshe. It will be followed at 1:30 by a
tour of the Holocaust Memorial
Center.
Burke-Kooistra's parents were hon-

ored by the Dutch government and
the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial
in Jerusalem. Burke-Kooistra now lives
in Mayville, Mich.
The YAD event, for Yom Hashoah,
is chaired by Jeremy Kahn and Susan
Sinai.

Deadline Nears
For Internship

Tomorrow's Teachers Today, the Jewish
educational Internship Program, is
seeking applicants for its t-wo-year pro-
gram. Recent or soon-to-be college
graduates with an interest in working
in education, non-profit organizations
and/or the Detroit Jewish community
are sought.
The interns will learn how to create
educational programs for all ages.
Travel to Israel, salary and health
insurance is included.

Offers Grants

Adat Shalom Syangogue announced
scholarships to be granted to young
adults in the community for participa-
tion in_an approved study program
Applications are being accepted
from college students for a year's stud)
in Israel. The Samuel and Dora
Kobaker Memorial Scholarship offers
$1,500 to study at an accredited col-
lege or university in Israel. The Harry
and Sarah Laker Memorial Scholarshil
provides $2,500 for university-level
study in Israel.
The $1,500 Robert and Gertrude
Berman Scholarship is available to
pursue Judaic studies in the United
States or Israel.
This year's deadline is May 8.
