Daniel Kurtzer is reportedly a leading candidate to become U.S. ambassador to Israel. Here is
what leading voices in Israel and the American Jewish community say about Kurtzer's record:

Former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir: "Kurtzer
frequently pressured Israel to make one-sided concessions
to the Arabs: he constantly blamed Israel for the absence
of Mideast peace, and paid little or no attention to the
fact that the Palestinians were carrying out terrorist
attacks and openly calling for the destruction of Israel."

Morris Amitay, former executive director of AIPAC:
"Kurtzer has a track record of pushing for Palestinian
rights. He will use his Jewishness as a protective cover for
his anti-Israel views." (Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Nlarch 29, 2001)

The Philadelphia Jewish Exponent, a leading
Federation newspaper: "Kurtzer is closely associated
with the failed Oslo peace process, as well as with
former President Clinton's policies of pressuring
Israel to make concessions to Arafat. Kurtzer was also
a close aide to former Secretary of State James Baker.
America needs an ambassador in Israel who will
understand that the policies of the past decade can-
not be foisted upon an Israel that has been betrayed
by past promises of peace." (Editorial, March 29, 2001)
