start-up phase. Everything from pur-
chasing office equipment to
installing phone systems has proven
to be challenging.
"For a few weeks, our phone lines
were crossed with Blue Cross/Blue
Shield's," laughs Stamell now. "Clients
would call and hear a recording that
they reached a non-working number
ar that company.
The group still needs to hire sup-
port staff, something they hope to
accomplish in the next few months.
For all three Sherman lawyers, the
hardest parr is being away from their
families.
"We are spending more hours at the
office than ever before," says Michael.
Ted laughs as he recalls how his wife
"spent an entire weekend faxing the
notice of our new firm to all of our
clients." The three agree that they
couldn't have successfully started the
firm without the support of their
spouses, parents and in-laws.
Despite her hectic schedule, Tucker
hopes that a year from now she will be
busier than she is currently, and will
not need to take on work from Dixon
MacDonald to keep business afloat.
The Sherman siblings, meanwhile,
are confident that they will work well
together and plan to expand within a
few years. "This is everything I
thought it would be," says Stamell.
"It's like a dream come true." ❑
