arias to romantic stylings.
The inside Fountain Festival at the
Forum Shops of Caesar's Palace has
Baccus and his entourage in an ani-
mated robotic show with lasers,
music and sound effects ... The vol-
cano in front of the Mirage erupts
every 19 minutes ... The pirate battle
in front of Treasure Island is every 90
minutes.
Getting married in Las Vegas is
easy ... But no easier than this ... Just
pay 25 bucks at the drive-in window
at A Special Memory Chapel and in
about 60 seconds the knot is tied.
Casino hotels are in the marriage
act too ... At Excalibur, you get atten-
dees like King Arthur, Queen
Guinevere and Merlin ... Caesar's
Palace has Cleopatra and Caesar
accompany couples being wed in the
chapel ... Harley-Davidson Cafe
includes wedding plans' with a cere-
monial ride down the Strip ...
Flamingo Las Vegas has a Garden of
Eden with 15 acres of foliage and
waterfalls ... MGM Grand will marry
folks on the set of its EFX Show ...
Las Vegas Hilton ties knots on its Star
Trek Experience ... Paris-Las Vegas
has "I Do" sessions atop its Eiffel
Tower .. Venetian does ceremonies on
its arched bridge overlooking the
Grand Canal ... or aboard a white
and gold gondola with singing gon-
dolier ... Even H.M.S. Britannia in
Buccaneer Bay in front of Treasure
Island, is available.
For wonderful entertainment, I
still miss the former Debbie
Reynolds Hotel ... where show biz
folks came to perform between their
shows ... When the town was truly
the "Entertainment Capital of the
World" ... Debbie remembered how
the town once jumped until the wee
hours of the morning ... How nearly
every headliner, following their last
show, would head for one of three
places to hang our ... the Silver
Slipper, the Sahara Hotel or the
Riviera ... And if the "Rat Pack" was
in town it would often mean gather-
ing in the lounge at the Sands Hotel.
These impromptu meetings of the
greats in entertainment were a main-
stay of the late night/early morning
wildness that helped to make Las
Vegas famous in those early years,
when the town was still growing •-
Crowds would swarm into the vari-
ous casinos in anticipation of seeing
their favorite star get up on a lounge
stage and entertain for free.
Too bad Debbie's hotel closed ...
She never forgot those happy days ...
and tried to revive chem.__
