Names Slate

The Jewish Community Council
announced its slate of officers and candi-
dates to fill board of directors seats. The
election will be held at the council's
annual meeting Mar 10 at Temple Beth
El.
Ann Zousmer was been nominated
to serve For her first year as council pres-
ident. Vice presidential candidates are
Jim Alexander, Wendy \'Vagenheim and
Steve Silverman. Arline Gould was
nominated as secretary and Richard
Nodel as treasurer.
Nominees slated for three-year terms
on the board of directors are David
Arm, Maxine Berman, Harvey
Bronstein, Robert Brown, Shari Cohen,
Marla Drutz, Gerald Goldbera b Zina
Kramer, Marjorie Krasnick, Mindy
Nathan, Jeffi-ey Ram, Judy Rosenberg,
Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Robert Slatkin,
Michael Sklar and Trudy Weiss.
Beth Applebaum has been nominat-
ed for a two-year term on the board of
directors.
Additional nominations for any elec-
tive office may be made by petition
signed by at least five qualified delegates.
Only one nominee may be named in
each position. Petitions must be deliv-
ered to the council office by April 13.

Topics Of Talks

The Detrit-based Center for Peace
and Conflict Studies will host
Rabbi Israel Dresner.
Rabbi Dresner will speak from
2:30 p.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday,
March 28, on the Wayne State
University campus in the Old Main
building. The topic will be
"Judaism and Social Justice." From
7 p.m.- 9 p.m., he will speak on
"Israel and the Palestinians: There
Is No Alternative to Peace," at
Temple Emanu-El as the annual
Max Mark lecturer.
Rabbi Dresner has been a pio-
neer on matters of social justice at
home and abroad for several
decades. He is a leader of the U.S.
support group for the Meretz Party
in Israel, has met four times with
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and
is well acquainted with members of
the Palestinian negotiating team.
