ADHD Conference Planned For April 6 Most medical experts now regard Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder as a definable condition that can be held at bay by a combination of drug and behavioral therapy. However, others still disagree over diagnosis and treatment of the condition. To address some of these conflict- ing theories and to provide current information, the Rochester Center for Behavioral Health will hold its second annual Michael Golds Conference on ADHD on April 6. The all-day event will take place at Oakland Community College's Orchard Ridge campus in Farmington Hills. The event is named in memory of Michael Golds, who coped with ADHD all his life. He was killed in a car accident several years ago in Florida just as he was about to receive a master's degree in tech- nical writing. Michael was supported in his efforts by his parents, Dr. Jack and Barbara Golds of West Bloomfield. He also worked with both Dr. Joel Young, medical director of the Rochester Center for Behavioral Medicine, and Dr. Lawrence Gage, co-founder of Project BOLD, a program for reach- ing learning disabled students. The April 6 conference, Attention- Deficit/Hypewctivity Disorder.. Impact on the Family, is intended for people living with ADHD and their families as well as for physicians, mental health profession- als, educators and law enforcement com- munity professionals. Breakout groups will take place in the afternoon. For conference information. call (248) 608-8800, ext. 26. Registration deadline is April 4.
