MARTHA SCHECHTER, 85, of
Southfield, died March 16. She was a
member of Pioneer Women Avoda
Chapter, Jewish Association for
Residential Care, the Labor Zionist
Organization, Congregation Shaarey
Zedek and its sisterhood and the Jewish
Center Book Fair committee.
Mrs. Schechter is survived by her
son and daughter-in-law, Nisson
Schechter and Dr. Laura Fochtmann of
New York; daughter and son-in-law,
Sandra and Dr. Milton Nathanson of
Franklin; grandchildren, Larry
Nathanson and Lyn Kugel, Neil and
Leslie Nathanson, Mark Nathanson,
Hillel Schechter, Shula Schechter;
great-grandchildren, Philip, Sabra,
Mira, Natalie, Dana and Sam
Nathanson. She was the beloved wife of
the late Harry Schechter.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Jewish Association for
Residential Care. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

SHIRLEY SHOPNICK, 78, former

Detroiter of Peoria, Ariz., died March
15.
She is survived by her husband of 58
years, Milton Shopnick of Peoria;
daughters and sons-in-law Fae and Bill
Ghormley of Peoria, Rinah Shopnick
and Jonathan Wechsler of Las Vegas;
son, Mark Shopnick of Cave Creek,
Ariz.; granddaughter, Tara of Peoria;
grandsons, Steven of Gilbert, Ariz.,
Keith of Texas.

PEARL SURNOW, 86, of Bloomfield
Township, died March 18. She was a
past member of B'nai B'rith and its
bowling league.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Michael and Sharon
Surnow of West Bloomfield, Jeffrey and
Elaine Surnow of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Adam, Katie, Hannah,
Sam, Max and Lisa Surnow; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Hazel Keaton of
Florida, Myrtle and Roger Lindeman of
Allan Park.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.
