Congregation Beth Shalom will pay
tribute to founding member Jerry
Efros when it names
him Man of the Year
at 6 p.m. Sunday,
April 22, at the syn-
agogue.
Throughout his
50-year affiliation
with Beth Shalom,
Efros has raised
funds to benefit the
Jerry Efros
congregation and
has served in a vari-
ety of offices. He is a former men's
club president, fund-raising chair and
trustee on the Beth Shalom Board of
Directors.
Efros has been a pharmacist for
more than 50 years, having operated a
chain of retail stores prior to his retire-
ment. He remains active in the Wayne
State University Pharmacy Alumni
Association, of which he is past presi-
dent.
There is a dinner fee. For reserva-

Adat Shalom Plans
Pesach Program

In preparation for the Passover
season, Adat Shalom Synagogue
has planned a two-part program
on Tuesday, March 27, and
Wednesday, March 28, titled
"Haggadah and heresy," which
will focus on Haggadot that
have been emptied of Jewish
content.
On Tuesday at noon, Rabbi
Herbert A. Yoskowitz and Rabbi
Jay Strear will compare the
Jewish and "heretical" Haggadot
of the ancient world. There is a
$10 charge for lunch.
At 8 p.m. on Wednesday,
Irwin Alterman will join Rabbi
Yoskowitz for a lecture and
Haggadot display. There is no
charge for the evening program.
Reservations are not required.
