These are the eyes of a frail elderly
woman without financial or family
support, who hopes to live out
the final years of her life in dignity.

additional
critical needs

■ With more workers losing their jobs in a

slowing economy, Jewish Family Service
must acquire additional funds to help the
growing number of individuals that need
emergency assistance, including those
without health insurance.

■ After airlifting 3,000 Jews from Quara, a

remote region in Ethiopia, the Jewish
Agency for Israel seeks funds to integrate
them into modern Israel society with
housing, after-school centers and health
clinics.

■ Because government funding has

not kept pace with the cost of
services, more support is
required for the Jewish
Vocational Service to sus-
tain assistance to its 350
clients with developmental
disabilities and chronic
mental illness.

cians and nurses to care for war refugees.

■ Jewish Family Service gives monthly

emergency assistance to 75-100 fam-

■ ElderLink, a network of Jewish

agencies that address the needs of
the elderly, provides life-sustaining
services — like in-home care, housing
and guardianship — to nearly 6,000
older adults, many of them without
