Dr. Bendix was a 1967 graduate of Southfield High School, a University of Michigan under- graduate and a 1975 graduate of Wayne State University of Medical School. He Dr. Stephen was a member of Bendix the Michigan Medical Society, past president of the Michigan Society of Addiction Medicine, med- ical director of Insight-Recovery Center, Oakland County Medical Society, on staff at Beaumont Hospital and formerly on staff at Sinai. For over 25 years, Dr. Bendix was in private practice serving thousands of patients, specializing in both inter- nal medicine and chemical dependen- cy. He was deeply committed to help- ing those who struggled with sub- stance abuse. Additionally, he was a member of Temple Israel and Congregation Shaarey Zedek. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren, of 18 years and four chil- dren, Brooke, Scott, Jason and Matthew, his parents, Norman and Lucille Bendix, his sisters and broth- ers-in-law, Carol and Michael Allen of Melville, New York, Judi Thurswell-Miller and Joel Miller, his mother and father-in-law, Lois and Seymour Levine; brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Michele Levine and Doug and Ronna Levine.
