Myths And Facts
About Israel

Q. A co-worker suggested we sell our house by owner and

save the brokerage commission. Is this a good idea?

really happened.

Special to the Jewish News

Example: the section on the Six-
Day War begins with the myth that
'Arab governments were prepared to
accept Israel after the Suez War."
Then, there is detailed information
bolstering Israel's claim that it acted
preemptively.
Make no mistake; the information
here comes from a strongly pro-Israel
perspective. The discussion of the
Sabra and Shatilla massacres in
Lebanon in 1982 makes it seem as if

A. It may appear to be a reasonable choice, however, I feel

strongly that a Realtor will net you more money than if
you attempt the job yourself. There are a myriad of
details that accompany real estate transactions and a
Realtor has been trained to handle every one of them.
You should consider the following:

• Are you able to be at home to qualify and to show prospects
your house throughout the day?

• The security of having a Realtor accompany all prospects
is reassuring.

ith the resumption of vio-

liv

lence in Israel, Gaza and
the West Bank, the anti-
Israel chorus on college
campuses across the country has once
again turned up the volume.
But now, there are better
resources than ever available for
Jewish students who want to counter
all the criticism.

YA,

• The multiple listing service exposes your property in ways
that an owner selling privately cannot take advantage of.

• There are additional costs incurred when selling yourself:
• additional attorney fees
• for sale and open signs
• advertising costs in the newspaper for several months
• Transferees work with Realtors because they don't know the
areas and don't have time to read your various ads.

• One overlooked factor is that sophisticated buyers often
discount your price by the brokerage fee and then begin to
negotiate. Where then, is the savings to you?

A house is typically your most important asset. I believe a
Realtor can help you protect this investment with profes-
sional services to allow you to get top dollar in the shortest
time with the fewest problems.

The Jewish Student Online
Research Center (JSOURCE) has
always excelled in providing students
with the raw materials they need to
take on the Israel bashers. Now, the
information has taken a quantum
jump with the publication of "Myths
and Facts Online: A Guide to the
Arab-Israeli Conflict."
The opening page of this section of
JSOURCE offers a concise historical
index of the conflict, going back to
the pre-Mandatory period.
Each section includes a number of
common claims of Israel's critics, fol-
lowed by factual accounts of what

Israel had virtually no responsibility
for the killings.
Still, the site is packed with solid
information, arranged in a wav that
will make it especially useful to stu-
dent activists interested in defending
Israel on campus. The site is flawlessly
organized and attractive; navigation is
a breeze.
The JSOURCE site is the work of
the prolific Mitchell G. Bard, a long-
time pro-Israel activist and author of
"The Idiot's Guide to the Middle East

Conflict."
