Levin's Optimism

Detroit Free Press business columnist

Doron Levin addressed the
Economic Club of Detroit on Feb.
26 at the Westin Hotel in
Southfield. His topic was "Don't
Worry Be Happy: Why Chrysler
Will Turn Out All Right."
Levin is optimistic about Chrysler's
survival because of its history and
leadership. Excerpts from his speech
were printed in the Free Press the next
day, but his jokes and the illustrious
introduction by Free Press publisher
Heath Meriwether were omitted.
Levin is a graduate of Cornell
University and the Columbia
University School of Journalism. He
served for three years in the Israel
Defense Forces and is a naturalized
United States citizen.
Levin told the joke about a destitute
man seeking help from the clergy. The
cleric told him to let the wind open
the "Good Book," read it and return.
He followed the instructions and
returned a wealthy man. The incredu-
lous cleric asked what happened. The
man said the wind opened the book
to Chapter 11.
The crowd at the Economic Club
enjoyed the joke as well as Levin's
insights.
