and filmmaking teacher,
showed three of his produc-
tions at last year's Ann
Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) and
received the $1,000 Jeff Moon
Production Award for The March and
In Memory, both about the Holocaust.
Ravett's recognition in the 38th
annual festival led to his being asked
to serve as one of three jurors in the
39th, which runs March 13-18 at the
Michigan Theater in downtown Ann
Arbor. The next week, March 22-25,
The March will be part of the East

new approaches to 16mm projects,
which include four films with Jewish
themes. The festival features cinema
from around the world and in every
genre, including animation, documen-
tary, cinema verite, narrative, experi-
mental and personal documentary.
"I'm looking forward to seeing different
people's work that I wouldn't ordinarily
get to see," says Ravett, who teaches at
Hampshire College in Massachusetts and
whose films have traveled internationally.
"I'll be looking for films that have formal
innovation and subjects of pertinent con-
cern to a broad public."
More than 100 films, initially select-
ed by a committee based on overall
quality, technique and creativity, will
be shown to the public and judged for
money awards during the festival.
