The post-,trip programs are available to nearly 17,000 birthright alumni who have traveled to Israel on a Birthright Israel program. "We offer these grants to inspire our alumni to stay involved and continue to explore. their cultural heritage," said Arlene Kaufman. She and her hus- band, Sanford Baklor, are the grant benefactors. Other grant recipients are: Washington Institute for Jewish Leadership and Values; Union of American Hebrew Congregations Youth Division; Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life; University of Texas Hillel; Institute for Contemporary Midrash; and GesherCity Boston. "This grant will really help us pro- vide institutional teaching and aware- ness about modern Israel at Michigan State," said Steven Weiland, director of Jewish Studies Programs at Michigan State University.
