Grant Boosts
Kids Program

A $75,000 grant from the Jewish Fund
has been renewed for a second year for
the Jewish Community Center's Kids All
Together (KAT) program.
The Jewish Fund was created in 1997
with proceeds from the sale of Sinai
Hospital to the Detroit Medical Center
to augment health and human services in
metropolitan Detroit.
The KAT program integrates children
with special needs into the JCC summer
camps, year-round enrichment and recre-
ation classes and the Sarah and Irving Pitt
Child Development Center.
Funds from the grant will be used to
hire and train staff as inclusion counselors
who will assist children with special needs
on a one-to-one basis so they can success-
fully participate in JCC programs.
The JCC Special Needs Department
is looking for young men and women to
fill these positions for both the JCC
enrichment classes and camp.
With support from the Skillman
Foundation, the JCC inclusion program
provides individual adaptation, accom-
modation and support for the people
with special needs.
For information about the inclusion
program or inclusion counselor positions,
call Nancie Furgang, (248) 661-7737.
