for the surface tensions lies among
American Jews, he said. "We have
taken such pride in the world's only
Jewish state that we have failed to
recognize the conditions available to
our perceived foes, the Palestinians.
We continue to sell sophisticated
aircraft and other war materiel with-
out imposing certain conditions as
to how it is to be used — in most
reports, in dreadful ways."
The blame must be shared by
the Palestinian terrorists' car
bombs and sniper attacks.
"An oppressed people will always
use what is at hand to attempt to
achieve a measure of freedom, and
such people will always be called
terrorists," Simons said. "Think
back to colonial America, the anti-
colonial struggle of the Vietnamese
people, to apartheid in South
Africa, and the Irgun and the
Stern Gang in pre-1948 British-
ruled Palestine — terrorists all."
Palestinian Authority leadership
also is at fault.
"The PA is corrupt, inept,
undemocratic and presently offer-
ing the worst possible kind of
leadership," Simons said. "Most
— if not all — Arab nations are
culpable in the worsening circum-
stances of the Palestinians."
"I oppose all violence and all
killing at all times," he said,
"whether at the hands of the Israelis
or the Palestinians, though its obvi-
ous which side is at present suffering
by far the greater losses."
