Gitler Qualifies
For State Meet

Berkley High School senior Jack Gider
won the 275-pound class at the state
Division 1 regional wrestling champi-
onships Saturday at Troy High School.
Gitler, who was a state champion
last year, qualified for the state cham-
pionship meet March 8-10 at Joe
Louis Arena in Detroit.
In the regional championship
match, Gitler pinned Tony Henry of
Walled Lake Western in 1 minute 19
seconds. It was the third time Gitler
has defeated Henry this season. Henry
has defeated Gider once.
Gitler, a 245-pound linebacker and
lineman for Berkley's football team,
recently signed a letter of intent to
play college football at Western
Michigan University.
