has fulfilled Vince's
keen ambition ...
With the result that
many people have
become repeat cus-
tomers including a
number of local
personalities ... in
what Vince Passalacqua calls "My new
baby."
WHEN HE WAS working as a pas-
try chef and cook at Ron Asmar's
Vineyards on Northwestern Highway
in Farmington Hills, Tariq Hanna had
just graduated culinary school at
Oakland Community College.
It was a long way from the architect
he wanted to be, and why Tariq had
come here after graduating high school
in England when only 15 years old.
At OCC, he took some hotel/restau-
rant management classes and liked it
so much, Tariq changed his major ...
The only architecture he does now is
in those divine-looking layer cakes
Tariq designs.
Today, as executive pastry chef at
MotorCity Casino, he recently took
second place at the January 15, 2001
International Dessert & Pastry Show
in New Orleans.
He is a very interesting and talented
young man.
THE BARE ASSETS Jazz Quartet
with barrister Richard Victor among
the four family-law at-torneys.who
comprise the group, was originally
formed back in September 1999 for
just one gig ... the annual State Bar of
Michigan Convention in Grand
Rapids ... where Richard was to be
honored.
At the convention, Richard was
given the Family Law Section of the
State Bar of Michigan's highest honor
... its Lifetime Achievement Award.
The group was so well received that
it was asked to play various other char-
ity and fundraising events.
McVee's Restaurant on Telegraph
Road, between Nine and 10 Mile
Roads in Southfield ... Saturday,
March 3 ... will be another donation
of services by them ... with a special
charity jazz performance for the Child
Abuse and Neglect Counsel of
Oakland County.
Owners of McVee's, Michael and
Ray Abrams, heard the Bare Assets'
first CD when Ray and Shirley's other
son, Henry, played it for them.
The lawyers agreed to perform at
McVee's if the restaurant would make
a generous contribution to the Child
Abuse Counsel.
Reservations are not necessary, but
