The Association of Jewish Libraries-
Michigan Chapter serves the special
interests of public, academic, research
and special libraries with Judaic collec-
tions as well as Jewish synagogue, school
p.nd community libraries.
Newly elected board members for the
2000-2001 year are Rachel Erlich, presi-
dent (Temple Israel); Francine Menkin,
vice president of programming (Temple
Israel); Phyllis Rochen, vice president of
programming (Yeshivat Akiva); Phyllis
Weeks, vice president of membership
(Livonia Public Schools); Judy Freeman,
treasurer (Temple Beth Emeth); Katy
Newman, recording secretary (Temple
Israel); Susan Field, past president
(archivist, Ford Motor Co.).
Some chapter goals for this year
include disseminating information on
the profession of Judaic librarianship,
educating public libraries about Judaic
collection development, educating the
general Jewish community about Jewish
libraries and collections and creating a
successful networking of ideas in the
field of Judaic librarianship.
Any person, library or other organiza-
tion interested in promoting the goals of
the association may become a member
upon payment of dues.

JWV Offers
Scholarships

The Michigan Jewish War Veterans
and Ladies Auxiliary will offer 20
$500 college scholarships this year as
part of the annual convention activi-
ties.
The scholarships are available to
dependents of honorably discharged
veterans who plan to attend a
Michigan university. They should be
available to attend the scholarship
award program on June 29 at the
Westin Hotel, Southfield.
To receive a scholarship applica-
tion, contact a high school counselor
or send a request, including name,
address and phone number, to the
JWV office, 16990 W. 12 Mile Road,
Southfield, MI 48076. Applications
must be returned by March 31.
Recipients are selected by an
impartial panel of educators. For
