Although now running a large multi-
million-dollar corporation, it is not
strange to see him behind the counter
pitching in to help at Plaza Deli in
Southfield ... or wherever needed at any
of his other restaurants.
Matt Prentice worked mighty hard to
get where he is ... and contrary to a lot
of others who have made it big ... still
does.
THE FINE DINING elegance of
Hong Hua on Orchard Lake Road,
north of 12 Mile Road, continues to
strike folks with awe at the authenticity
of its dishes.
The menu at its recent New Year's
Eve party celebrating the Chinese New
Year of the Snake, was an impressive
one ... sumptuous and seldom seen at a
Chinese restaurant.
The authentic dishes were brought to
the tables in our room in large trays
and placed on a lazy Susan ... where
various waitpersons deftly and excel-
lently served each course onto plates
around the convenient turntables.
Magnificent choices included lobster
salad, dried scallops and dried oyster
appetizers, shark fin soup, entrees of
abalone and sea cucumber, chicken
with mushrooms, scallops and conch
slices, steamed sea bass, Rich Man's
fried rice, E-fun noodles, desserts of red
bean sweet rice ball soup and fruit plat-
ter.
Traffic on Orchard Lake Road
stopped outside Hong Hua where
onlookers watched from cars as the two
dragons danced and pranced outside
and through the restaurant ... Also at
the firecrackers that lit the skies in
stunning ceremonious fashion ...
Inside, karaoke singing and live music
also entertained the large attendance.
