T his party weekend could rival any script at the popu- lar sitcom Friends. A group of singles, many who partic- ipated on.Federation's 2000 Singles Mission to Israel, reunited for New Year's Eve weekend at Camp Tanuga in Kalkaska, Michigan. For $200 per per- son, campers reveled in the activities — skiing (cross-country and downhill), snowboarding, snowmobiling, board games, gourmet dinners and cards. "It was like being back at camp, "said interior designer Amy Brodsky of Huntington Woods. Jon Coden, of Steve Coden's Flowers in Southfield, helped coordinate the weekend with his brother, Mark, who is a co-owner of the camp. The group of 25 singles, all between the ages of 25- 32, planned the weekend in October and began inviting friends. Just like camp, many of the activities were organ- ized. Steve Jasgur, of Joe Cornell Entertainment in Southfield, brought party favors, music, and the party mood. The group even planned theme evenings like the Hawaiian night. According to Jodi Caden, a designer with Designs Unlimited in West Bloomfield, the Hawaiian luau gourmet dinner was exotic. "Everyone dressed the part and the food was surprisingly good," said Caden. Attorney Lorne Gold made the mine- strone soup, while Jon Coden barbecued outside in his shorts, straw hat, sunglass- es and Hawaiian shirt. Amy Brodsky made the Jell-O shots (gelatin filled with liquor.) "It was a group effort, and every- one pitched in," said Coden. Gold sums up the weekend sentiment: "It was the best way to celebrate the New Year with a group of good friends." — Carla Schwartz 1.
