fee-for-service model of Jewish life
pushes negative buttons.
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-
School of North America, offered in
Dettoit 1994-96 and hopefully will
be reopening here in the near future,
is another very successful model for
bringing Jews together for learning
and spiritual growth without regard to
congregational affiliation or other
Jewish communal organizational ties.
Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrich-
ment is another vehicle with tremen-
dous potential for building connec-
tion and community. And the new
Judaic Early Enrichment Program ini-
tiative is bringing Jewish knowledge
and energy to the teaching staffs of
congregational preschools, which will,
in turn, touch the lives of hundreds of
young Jewish'families, many of whom
are not yet affiliated.
All of these efforts offer a multifac-
eted approach by which the Detroit
Jewish community can be strength-
ened and enriched by the participa-
tion and energy of each and every
person who wants to be a part of it.

Berl Falbaum's Community Views
["On God And Country," Jan. 26,
page 36] was ill-conceived and insult-
ing to Abraham Foxman, national
director of the Anti-Defamation
League.
I, along with the ADL, will fight for
Mr. Falbaum's right of free expression;
however, his "arrogant" attack on Abra-
ham Foxman was unwarranted.
I do not have to speak for Abe,
who has devoted his entire life to the
protection of the civil rights of all
Americans. He has been the outstand-
ing voice for American Jewry, Israel
and for our brothers through the
world.
Abe Foxman has traveled to areas
where most of us fear to tread for the
protection and freedom of the Jewish
nation.
In addition, he has met with all of
our presidents and has the ear of
Congress and most world leaders. I
have seen him embraced by presi-
dents, ambassadors and prime minis-
ters, and people of all persuasions.
