Fund To Aid
Missing Soldiers

Bloomfield Township — The Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit has
opened a mailbox to receive donations
to aid in the safe return of three Israeli
soldiers who have been missing for
almost four months.

will be forwarded to a private fund set
up by the families of the missing sol-
diers.
Participants on the recent Michigan
Unity Mission to Israel met in Tel Aviv
with the father of Benny Avraham. .
Haim Avraham appealed to the group
for their assistance to bring about the
safe return of his son and the other sol-
diers.
"This trip gave us the opportunity to
stand with Israel's people, to demon-
strate our solidarity in a way that noth-
ing else can," said Federation President
Penny Blumenstein. "Mr. Avraham's
very emotional message should moti-
vate all of us to take action and ensure
that every step is taken in order to
bring the soldiers home."
The grOup of more than 200
Michigan Unity Mission participants
signed letters to the United Nations,
asking the organization for its "contin-
ued help and intervention" in the
release of the soldiers.
