est Bloomfield
Police Detective
Bob Spencer offered these
tips for protection against
a thief during a shivah.

• Know who's in
your home. "When

people gather for some sad cir-
cumstances, you don't want to
think there are any other bad
things that can happen at that
moment, but never take it for
granted that your home will be
filled with good people that you
can trust"

It's all here

of the Jewish Community Center on the Eugene and Marcia Applebaum

"I don't want people to think that
every person who delivers flowers
or a deli tray is shady, but they
shouldn't really need to be there any
longer than just the time it takes to
make the delivery and leave."

Authorities in Birmingham,
Bloomfield Hills and Farmington Hills
are investigating her in connection
with other shivah home burglaries,
although no warrants have been issued
in those cases, Spencer said.
Davis was arraigned in 48th District
Court in Bloomfield Township on Jan.
11 on the larceny from a building
charge; no plea was entered. She was
later bound over for trial in Oakland
County Circuit Court following a pre-
liminary examination of the charges in
district court. If convicted, she faces
up to four years in jail.
She is being held in the Oakland
County Jail in Pontiac in lieu of a
55,000 cash or surety bond.
She faces unrelated felony charges of
forgery and uttering and publishing in
connection with alleged forged checks;
the two charges carry penalties upon
conviction of up to 14 years.
