her bat mitzvah at
Temple Israel on
Friday, Jan. 26. She is
the daughter of Cindy
and Steven Friedman
and sister of Justin
and Brad. Excited
grandparents are
Gloria and Robert
Moses and Francine
Friedman and great-
grandmother Connie Weinberg. She is
also the grandchild of the late Obbie
Friedman.
Rachel attends Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield. Her hob-
bies include singing, snowboarding,
soccer, computers and going to Camp
Walden. Among her mitzvah projects,
she volunteered at Temple Israel, assist-
ed at the Labor Day picnic and babysat
during High Holy Day services.

Allison Jill Kessler will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Jan. 27, at Congregation Beth Ahm.
She is the daughter of Jane and Charles
Kessler and the sister of Stacy. Allison is
the granddaughter of Janet Kessler,
Frank Blazofsky, Irvin Kessler, Ilene

dent at Berkshire
Middle School in
Birmingham. She
enjoys summer camp
and spending time
with family and
friends. She volunteered the last two
summers as a counselor at Safety Town.

Scott Gregory Lowen will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Jan. 27, at Temple Beth El. Scott and
his sister Marissa and brother Aaron,
are the children of Karen and Alan
Lowen. They are the grandchildren of
Evelyn and the late Seymour Lowen
and the late Margaret and Irving
Siporin.
Scott is a seventh-
grader at O.E.
Dunckel Middle
School in Farmington
Hills, where he is
active in student
council and on the
cross country and
track teams. For the
past five years, Scott has enjoyed his
summers at Olin Sang Ruby Union
Institute in Wisconsin. He also enjoys
traveling, sports and school. He initiat-
ed the Share the Warmth program for
his mitzvah project and has asked for
donations of new hats, scarves and
gloves to be distributed to organizations
serving the needy.

Israel. She is the
daughter of Pat and
Robert Orloff and sis-
ter of Jodi. Rachel's
grandparents are the
late Claire and
Raymond Lipton and
the late Jean and
Morris Orloff.
An honor student at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills, Rachel
enjoys dancing, swimming, skiing and
going to camp. Her most meaningful
mitzvah project involved volunteering
at Yad Ezra.

Michael Jordan Peres was called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Jan. 20, at Temple Beth El. He is the
son of Donna Peres and the grandson
of Edward Peres and Sally Peres.
