Purim Celebration

Gaucher (pronounced "Go-Shay")
Disease is the most common genetic
disease affecting Jews of Eastern and
Central European descent. One out of
every ten carries the Gaucher gene —
it is far more prevalent than Tay-Sachs.

Congregation Beth Shalom will have
its annual Purim carnival from noon
to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the
synagogue.
The carnival will feature games,
laser tag, food and entertainment.
There will also be a raffle and prizes.
There is a charge for food and game •
tickets. The public is invited.
The congregation's Purim celebra-
tion will continue Thursday, March 8,
when children and adults in costume
will gather 'for the megillah reading.
The evening will begin with services at
6:30 p.m. followed by the reading of
the Megillat Esther at 7 p.m. Following
services, prizes will be awarded for
best costumes. Admission is free and
all are invited.

Holds Elections

Yad Ezra, Michigan's only kosher food
pantry, recently held elections for the
executive committee and board of
directors for 2001.
Elected to the executive committee
